PDA Interface

PDA Interface

Brief: Design an application to assist backpackers while traveling to and in foreign countries and access from a portable device. Requirements: Design an interface that is intuitive and easy to use. Information is accessible. Provide trustworthy, up-to-date information, extra functionality and resources to backpackers when traveling. Development: Considering many elements within this design required an in depth user analysis, creating personas and scenarios. This allowed the interface to be specifically designed for the user group and market. Designing for portable devices also required an in depth look at design principals, design theory and interaction styles. Producing knowledge in accessibility, usability, user requirements, cognitive load and memory load on users, capabilities of user groups, development of mental models, developing recognition instead of recall, device limitations and content design. From a university brief this design gained a 1st (14/15). The mark reflecting the design, but also the design knowledge, decisions and justification.
